Used putters

Putters wear slowly, which Golf Monthly says makes them one of the safer clubs to buy used, but they attract counterfeiters, Scotty Cameron especially. Ask for clear photos of the actual putter: face, sole, topline, neck and shaft band, then compare fonts, paint fill and milling against a genuine example. Check the face for dents; on models with an insert, such as Odyssey's White Hot faces, look for damage or separation at its edges. Note the length, since a putter that is too long or too short changes your posture and eye line, and ask whether the shaft has been cut down or extended. Confirm the neck style in the photos matches the model named in the title, and whether the grip is original.
