Methodology
Which models get a full guide
The catalog has 107 models from eight brands. Of those, 36make up our launch set: the used drivers, irons, wedges, putters, fairway woods and hybrids that buyers search for most and that turn up on eBay every week. Those pages have been fact-checked and rewritten, and they are the ones we review dated eBay snapshots for. The rest keep their pages, marked “not yet fact-checked”, with a plain eBay search in place of a snapshot until we get to them.
How we check the facts
Years, lofts, stock shafts, flexes and adjustability on a launch model come from the maker’s own product pages and press releases, cross-checked against independent reviews and retailer spec sheets. Where we could not confirm a detail, we left it out rather than guess. Club makers often sell several generations under one name (a T100, a P790, a Newport 2), so each page says which one it covers and how to tell them apart in a listing.
Prices
We don’t publish catalog price bands. The only prices on this site come from dated eBay snapshots: what sellers were asking on the day we looked, with the capture date next to every figure. Asking prices are not sold prices, and a used club’s value depends heavily on its condition, shaft and hand, so treat them as a starting point.
Club photos
The product photo on a model's page and cards is a representative image, not a photo of any one club for sale. We generate it with an AI image model, working from several real seller photos of that exact model, and compare it against those photos before publishing. It is set on a plain studio backdrop so every model reads the same way.
That means it shows what the model looks like, not the condition of a particular club. Crown paint, face and sole wear, groove sharpness, shaft, grip, and adapter all vary from club to club, and some small details may be simplified. Judge condition and authenticity from the seller's own photos, and ask for close-ups of the face, crown, and serial number before you bid. Wherever a representative photo appears large it carries the caption “Representative photo — AI-generated from real seller photos. Individual listings vary.” Models without one show no photo.
Market snapshots and buying picks
For models with a buying guide, we capture a snapshot of the matching eBay listings on a given date: the count, the price range, where most asking prices cluster, and a selection of listings with their price, shipping, format, seller feedback, and condition. The capture date is printed next to the listings (“Snapshot captured …”), and by the time you read it some will have sold or ended. The “See all current listings on eBay” link always opens the live search. When a snapshot has listings, the model's typical asking price on the page comes from it; when nothing was listed, we say so and show no price.
Captured listings are tagged with plain labels: Cheapest (lowest delivered price for a complete, playable club), Best value (evidence it is sound at a below-typical price), Best for beginners and Easiest to get working (a forgiving loft and flex, a fresh grip, or a seller who accepts returns), Collector's pick (a tour-issue or otherwise desirable variant at a sane price), and Project piece (a head-only or damaged club worth reshafting). Two warning tags flag listings to approach with care: Check the seller (little or no feedback) and Priced high (well above the typical range without a clear reason). These are judgement calls made from the listing text and photos, not a grade: we have not handled the clubs, the seller's photos and feedback remain your authoritative signal, and nobody pays for placement.
Links
Every link to eBay or Amazon is a plain link to the listing or search, with no affiliate or tracking code. We earn nothing from them. See the disclosure.
What we don’t do
We don’t fit clubs (see a fitter, ideally before you buy a used set). We haven’t handled the clubs in a snapshot: our picks and warnings are judgement calls from the listing text and photos, and the seller’s photos, description and feedback remain your authoritative signal.
