If you have a slight arc in your stroke, the Anser 2 is a classic place to look, and it comes from one of golf's most famous putters. Karsten Solheim designed the original Anser in 1966 and patented it in 1967, and Julius Boros won the 1967 Phoenix Open with one. The Anser 2 is a variation with a slightly longer, narrower profile and sharper corners than the Anser. Ping has sold it in several series, so this page covers the shape. The Heppler Anser 2 (2020) has a steel and pressure-cast aluminum head, a copper and black finish and an adjustable-length shaft. The 2021 Anser 2 has a dual-durometer Pebax face insert and tungsten heel and toe weights. The PLD Milled Anser 2 (2022 to 2023) is forged from 303 stainless with about four hours of milling and a deep AMP face pattern. Ping's next standard line, announced in late 2022, listed an Anser 2D instead of an Anser 2. Older Anser 2 putters also turn up regularly. The series name and condition decide what you're getting, so read the head before you compare prices.

Read the head to make sure it's an Anser 2 and not an Anser, 2D, 4 or 30, and on older putters look for plating wear, rust and a replaced grip or shaft. Measure the playing length, since many Ping putters have been cut down or extended. Skip the $276 BeNi ask when the same seller lists another BeNi Anser 2 for about $187.
