The Vokey SM8 is the 2020 generation of Titleist's Spin Milled wedge, on sale at vokey.com from February 11, 2020 and in shops from March 6. Its headline change from the SM7 was a forward-shifted center of gravity: hosel length varies by loft and a tungsten weight sits low in the toe, which Titleist said raises MOI in the higher lofts and helps the face square up at impact. It came in 23 loft, bounce and grind combinations across nine lofts from 46 to 62 degrees and six grinds (F, S, M, K, L, D), with True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 as the stock shaft. Finishes were Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel and Jet Black, with Raw by custom order, and a Slate Blue version followed in 2021. The SM9 replaced it in February 2022, mainly to keep the forward CG working on high-loft, open-face shots. For a used buyer, the SM8 is usually the least expensive of the recent Vokeys and the grind names carry over, so a fitting recommendation for an SM9 or SM10 grind generally translates. The catch is age: most SM8s have seen several seasons of bunker and range work, so judge the grooves before anything else.

⚠What to verify before you buy
Ask for a clear photo of the back of the head and the stamping, because SM7, SM8 and SM9 heads look alike in small photos and titles often mix them up.
Read the stamp as loft, bounce and grind, so 56.10S means a 56 degree head with 10 degrees of bounce in the S grind, and confirm the letter is F, S, M, K, L or D.
Treat a T grind, a 64 degree head or any combination outside the stock 23 as a WedgeWorks or custom piece that the seller should be able to explain.
Zoom in on the strike area in the center of the face: grooves that look rounded, shallow or polished compared with the grooves near the heel and toe have lost spin, most noticeably on half shots and from the rough.
Expect rust on a Raw head because it is unplated by design, but walk away from pitting inside the grooves or rust spreading up the hosel.
Check whether the shaft is the stock Dynamic Gold S200 or an aftermarket swap, and look for a straight shaft with no rust at the hosel.
Look at the leading edge and sole for deep dings or signs of regrinding, since a reshaped sole no longer plays like the bounce stamped on it.
About 200 SM8s are listed, and most complete wedges ask $60–85 delivered, which makes it the cheapest of the recent Vokeys. Pick the loft and grind you need first (the stamp reads loft, bounce, grind, so 56.10S is a 56° head with 10° of bounce in the S grind), then judge the grooves: SM8s date from 2020, so many have seasons of bunker and range wear. Ask for a close, angled photo of the center of the face on any 56, 58 or 60 and pay less for a polished strike area. Skip heads whose stamp or grind isn't clear in the photos, since SM7, SM8 and SM9 heads are often mixed up in titles.

$54.95delivered
About $55 delivered with free shipping from a 99.9% seller, the lowest price on a complete SM8 here. It's a 50.12F gap wedge, so it has probably seen less bunker work than a 56 or 60, but still ask for a face photo.
About $63 delivered from a 100% golf seller, low in the band for a Jet Black 52.08F gap wedge with a Dynamic Gold 115 Tour Issue stiff shaft rather than the stock wedge flex. Check the black finish around the face for wear before you buy.
Titleist Vokey SM8 Jet Black 52-8F 52° Gap Wedge DG 115 TI Steel Stiff
A 56.10S is the standard mid-bounce sand wedge setup, and this one is about $80 delivered with free shipping and Best Offer from a 100% seller, inside the band. Ask for a face photo to confirm the grooves are still sharp.
Titleist Vokey SM8 Men's Right-Handed 56* Loft Wedge with 10* Bounce and S Grind
Titled mint with a new Golf Pride grip, so it should need nothing before the first round. At about $104 delivered it's roughly $19 over the band for a 54.14F, so it only makes sense if the face photos back up the mint claim.

What a used club of this type usually needs. Plain Amazon searches: we earn nothing from them.
Groove brush and towel
Dirt packed in the grooves costs spin more than a little wear does. A stiff brush and a damp towel after each shot keep a used wedge or iron set playing at its best.
Most used clubs arrive on the last owner's grips. If they are shiny, cracked or slick, regripping is the cheapest way to make a used club feel new. Match the grip size to your hands, not to what came off.
Stickers on the face show where you strike it. A few range sessions tell you whether the used head, loft and lie suit your swing while you can still resell it.
