The Stealth is TaylorMade's 2022 driver and the first in what it calls the Carbonwood era. After roughly two decades of titanium faces, it switched to the 60X Carbon Twist Face, a 60-layer carbon fiber face that TaylorMade says is much lighter than titanium and larger than the SIM2 faces. The face sits under a nanotexture polyurethane cover meant to keep launch and spin consistent in any weather. Weight saved from the face moved low and deep to raise MOI, and the Asymmetric Inertia Generator and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket carried over from SIM2. The standard Stealth sits alongside the Stealth Plus and Stealth HD; it is the mid-high launch, mid-low spin option for the widest range of handicaps. Golf Monthly found its ball flight more consistent than the SIM2 Max's, but felt the matte black crown and red face look compact behind the ball. Lofts were 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees, the 12 for right-handers only. Stealth 2 replaced it in 2023 and looks very similar, so the year is easy to get wrong. For a used buyer, this is the cheaper way into a carbon-faced TaylorMade, provided the listing really is the original standard head.

Buying guide · Oct 4, 2026
About 46 original Stealth drivers are listed, and most complete ones sell for $200–230 delivered, making it the cheapest way into a carbon-face TaylorMade. Confirm the sole reads Stealth with no 2, Plus or HD (the 2022 head has a matte black crown), look for the stock Ventus Red 5 or Ascent Red 60, and check the red face cover for peeling or chipped edges. Ask about the sleeve setting and the wrench, and watch shipping, which adds $66 to one listing here.

Torque wrench for your brand
Adjustable drivers, fairways and hybrids often sell without the wrench. You need one that fits your brand's screw and clicks at the right torque before you change loft or swap a weight.
Headcover
A wood without a headcover picks up crown chips from the irons in the bag. If the original cover is missing, any cover that fits the head size does the job.
Grips, tape and solvent
Most used clubs arrive on the last owner's grips. If they are shiny, cracked or slick, regripping is the cheapest way to make a used club feel new. Match the grip size to your hands, not to what came off.
Impact tape
Stickers on the face show where you strike it. A few range sessions tell you whether the used head, loft and lie suit your swing while you can still resell it.
