The Callaway Apex 21 is a forged players-distance iron for low-to-mid handicaps, launched in February 2021 alongside the more compact Apex Pro 21 and the larger, more forgiving Apex DCB 21. It is a forged 1025 carbon steel cavity-back, not a hollow-body iron, and it was the first forged Apex to use an AI-designed Flash Face Cup, which appears in the 4- through 9-irons while the PW and gap wedge use a conventional face plate. Callaway added tungsten weighting, an average of 48.5 grams in the 4- through 9-irons, and kept its urethane microspheres between the face and the tungsten to damp vibration. Lofts were unchanged from the Apex 19, with a 30.5° 7-iron, so the two generations are easy to confuse in listings; the Apex 19 used Callaway's 360 Face Cup and a variable-thickness face in the short irons instead. The 2024 Apex family, on sale from September 2023, was built around Apex Pro, Apex CB and Apex MB and dropped the DCB. For a used buyer, the Apex 21 offers a forged feel with real help on mishits, but check the model carefully, because Apex 21, Apex Pro 21, Apex DCB 21 and Apex 19 heads all wear the Apex name.

⚠What to verify before you buy
Confirm the exact model on the head, since Apex 21, Apex Pro 21 and Apex DCB 21 launched together and the DCB has a wider sole, more offset and a deeper cavity.
Separate it from the Apex 19, which has the same lofts, by asking for clear photos of the back of the heads and comparing them with Callaway's product photos.
Check whether the set is a combo with Apex Pro 21 irons, a common build that should be priced as a combo.
Read the shaft band for model and flex, and ask whether the set has been reshafted.
Plan your wedge gaps, because the AW in this set is 48° and the PW is 43°.
Make sure the listing is an iron set and not an Apex hybrid or Apex utility, which share the name.
Inspect the faces for worn grooves and the soles and leading edges for deep rock dings.
About 74 Apex 21 sets are listed, and most complete ones run $500–675 delivered, with several good sets well under that. Count the clubs and compare price per club, since makeups run from 6-PW (5 clubs) to 4-PW plus AW (8), and check shaft flex and any length change. Confirm the heads say Apex 21 and not Apex Pro 21, Apex DCB 21 or the Apex 19, which shares the same lofts, and check for combo sets with Apex Pro 21 irons. Skip the $919 Black set unless the seller comes down a long way.

What a used club of this type usually needs. Plain Amazon searches: we earn nothing from them.
Grips, tape and solvent
Most used clubs arrive on the last owner's grips. If they are shiny, cracked or slick, regripping is the cheapest way to make a used club feel new. Match the grip size to your hands, not to what came off.
Dirt packed in the grooves costs spin more than a little wear does. A stiff brush and a damp towel after each shot keep a used wedge or iron set playing at its best.
Stickers on the face show where you strike it. A few range sessions tell you whether the used head, loft and lie suit your swing while you can still resell it.
